It's difficult for the Australian squad to achieve unprecedented feats.

The highest peaks have already been conquered.

This is the unit that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, plus six more T20 titles, and previously enjoyed nearly four years undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, targeted by the peak baggers, are all that remain for a team that has achieved everything.

That it took up to Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to complete their first ODI chase over 300, regaining their record for the highest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, in truth, a tribute to the pitchers that have worn canary yellow over the last half-century.

It's difficult for their hitters to possess a record if not provided the opportunity.

Ultimately, the result of Australia allowing 330 runs was leader Alyssa Healy receiving a chance to create her newest gem.

Originally famous as the 19-year-old niece of famous ex Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after Australia couldn't capture either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups conducted earlier and has experienced everything through 15 successful years since.

Success in the T20 World Cup arrived three months after her debut and seven international trophies have come from 10 attempts across formats.

The determined wicketkeeper was in attendance in Derby in 2017 when a last-four loss by India briefly halted the winning streak.

That loss "pushed us to reevaluate our levels," Healy commented earlier.

At the following one-day championship in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the championship match and was declared player of the series. She made sure her country would not fail again.

If this newest brilliant performance topped that previous effort can be debated.

Some will argue the case for final game tension. Some might respond with the difficulty that comes when confronting a historic chase and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What's definite is this ton was considerably tougher to see coming.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 happened while she topped the run-scoring charts, but this performance followed six innings in India since the start of last month in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"If you've observed me in the nets, it was a challenging time because I feel like my form was missing at all," stated Healy.

"However when you step out on the field, your competitive instincts activate and you completely engage with the match."

Healy's competitiveness has always been her major advantage - and an invaluable trait in succeeding iconic ex-skipper Meg Lanning.

She was tormented by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, fallen to the young fast bowler in each encounter, but this time it merely gave Healy's motivation.

A single came off the opening delivery and from that point the right-hander was underway.

"A chance to go out there and face the challenge with her and merely enjoy the moment in that regard, kind of motivated me," commented Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 pitches - her swiftest at the World Cup - and her century in 84 balls as she punished short deliveries, scoring 21 fours and three big hits.

When she was out Australia needed 66 additional runs at a run-a-ball - a manageable total now needing a comfortable finish.

"Pursuing 330 is new territory so I am glad we have the confidence to achieve that now," stated Healy further.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to do it again but, if we do, we believe we can do it."

That comment will be the final thing competing nations at this championship want to hear.

In recent days a feeling they will win from any position has grown stronger - this success coming after victory over Pakistan by 107-run victory despite struggling at 76-7 at one stage.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before a meeting with longtime competitors England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a last-four spot may likely be confirmed.

It was in the semi-finals they left the prior year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - a game Healy was absent due to torn tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the initial instance at an important competition.

Such is her determination, she afterwards commented she wanted to have participated through the pain.

But while she later admitted those fitness problems have pushed back consideration of ending her career, this championship is expected to be her concluding event as leader in one-day cricket and she is yet to win a global event as skipper.

Triumph in India would lead her to the peak of her final mountain.
